Driveway alarms

NorthernTool.com has several drive way alert systems listed. Not that expensive and transmitter range would appear to be suitable for your use.

I thought this one looked pretty good, as long as it works as advertised. It won't detect animals, which is a plus for many locations. Unfortunately, it won't detect a person on foot either.

The one I have under the door states: Protech - Manufactured by Dakota MURS Alert. I bought it from the GSA Auction web site about five years ago. It looks very commercial built.

Signs don't mean anything to people these days. It is unlikely that they see them, let alone read them. And on the off chance that they do, the assumption is made that they are among the privileged class and those silly rules don't apply to them. It's merely a matter of respect, and respect doesn't exist anymore.

Don, that is simply bang on. It is a total lack of respect. I taught my children to respect other people's property and space. Do not go on other people's land without permission, it is simply good manners.

I think a driveway alarm is a good idea. Gonna look into that. Gotta find one that will still operate in snow though .. like LOTS of snow

Sort of on the same subject A car remote can be used as a safety too. I recommend that any one going to a car in a parking lot keep the zapper in their hand with a finger on the alarm button. I further recommend that the zapper be kept on your night table so that if intruders are heard in the house you can set the car alarm to doing it's thing. A further help is a can of wasp and hornet spray as sot of that across the room as an intruder enters the room blinds him and you have time for the Smith and Western. In the country Momma could keep one in the kitchen too. They spray 20 or 30 feet

Beaconlight has it. If mounted too low, small animals or limbs blowing in the wind can set them off. If mounted too high, then people can duck under it. The mounting is very important to not driving you crazy. Mount on a post 3-4 feet up and make sure the beam is parallel to the ground across the driveway. Clear any branches from the area. Also, don't mount it right out by the road. Since cars seem to use driveways as turnarounds, put the sensor more than a couple of car lengths from the road.

My father-in-law put one in his maibox. Goes off when the mail arrives (or when kids are messin with the mailboxes).
