redecorating

I went in to see Mom this morning, and did not get to the shed till about 1 or so this afternoon. As I was walking to it I kept hearing what sounded like tree limbs rubbing the roof, only problem is there was no wind, and I do not have trees that can rub the roof. When I unlocked the door and went inside these were the sights I saw.

north doors

south doors (both looked the same)

east wall behind the disk

The old H leaks some oil so I keep a tray under it. this puddle was not beside it before though

nor these oil tracks

there was also several things knocked over and off the shelves, 24 inch pipe wrench and large bolt cutters that lean against wall knocked over, shoulder carried broadcast seeder and fake owl that are stored on a top shelf knocked off, along with a few other odds and ends scattered around

I never did see what it was, but I suspect it was house cat gone wild that roams this area. I do not remember if i was in the shed yesterday or not, so it may have been locked in the shed as much as 2 days, though probably only one.

That's one heck of a Cat you've got in that neighborhood. Kind of reminds me of Cujo the dog.

Currently having racoons in my old shop - now machinery storage area. Find their mess - droppings all over the floor. Not finding things knocked over. Haven't had this problem for years.

Sorry to hear/see the damage. Can be frustrating. Did you find out where the cat (or coon) entered?

Shed closes up pretty tight, about the only time would have been when I had the doors open. When I go down to the shed I normally leave all the doors open all day, so there was plenty of opportunity. shed is 40 feet long with 10 foot sliding doors on each end, and a walk in door about the middle of the east side. I figure it wandered in while I was doing something outside and hid when I came back to close it up.

Trapped animals of all kinds can sure cause a lot of damage trying to get out, I think Bill can relate to that with his trailer.

We had a squirrel come in an old (supposedly capped) stove pipe in a building at my place in NE. By the time we got to the building he had chewed the inside wood on just about all windows, between the panes. He sure made a mess of things, the little guy sure wanted out, but failed in his attempt by the time we found him.

Hopefully your visitor was traumatized enough to find another place to redecorate in the future!

I walked past my trailer one morning and heard a noise inside. I opened the door and found this. Bandit had gone into one of the cabinets and laid down for the night, I never knew she was in there when I closed it that night. If I had not heard her she would have been in there for quite awhile longer. It was in the high 90's that week and she would have been dead in a few hours.

Today I reevaluated my guess as to what it was. I needed to use the wire wheel on my grinder, and when I switched it on I heard a little sput, and saw a flash out of the corner of my eye. A little investigating and found this. It is part of the power card that feeds the power strip my grinder is plugged into. Note the incisor marks on the long wire. My estimate now is a squirrel.

That's too bad John. I think whatever made those tracks and the damage to the wire are two different animals though. The tracks are definitely some kind of a 4 legged canine or feline (tough to tell how big they are?).

The tracks are pretty small, about the size of the end of a thumb. The oil soaking into the concrete around them makes them look larger. Normally when I leave the doors open I turn on the radio to a classical music station. I like the music, plus it helps keep the birds out. The afternoon before I found all of this I had left it open for a while doing some work in the garden but had not bothered to turn the radio on. I see squirrels running by it every now and then, and I suspect one was close to the open door when I came back and it ducked inside to hide from me, and was still hiding in there when I closed it up.
