Where are the chatters?

Postby Barnyard » Sun Jul 14, 2013 8:23 pm

Two weeks ago Dennis ran a poll to see if we should keep the chat room open. Ten members voted to keep it. Where are those ten members? I pop in a couple times a day and have found no body home. I was there three times since 7:30 this evening and was the only one there. I usually hang around for awhile to see if anybody shows up and leave if no one does. You can't just enter for a minute and leave if no one is there or you may just miss somebody coming in. Then that person comes in and does the same. If folks hung around for a while they may run into somebody entering the room. If we don't start using it then I see it going away for good. We were given a second chance, why is there no one taking advantage of that chance?

Well, most do not like to be treated like children, and do not need a hall monitor watching over them. People are also creatures of habit. When the store closes that all the farmers gather at, they go to another store. If the store reopens they may not return.

I have been getting some much needed rest, was on the verge of abandoning it before the temporary shutdown. May check back in the fall when nights are longer.

I have been in a few times but like Mr. Puckett says, the winter evenings have always been the best time for chat. Too much daylight and too much work going on in the long days of summer. I feel that in the cooler months coming up, attendance will rebound. I hope so, anyway.

I didn't even know we had a chat room? And truth be told, I wouldn't use it. I like to be on the PC as little as possible.

The new chat room seems to be doing well tonight for it's first night. I think we will see a lot more action there as it begins to catch on. Thanks Dennis for the improved format. No delays and no kick offs reported.

I had problems with Firefox at first, but after I hit the refresh (reload) button all was ok. You might try clearing your cookies for the site and try again. delete cookies button is at the very bottom of the page, and a little hard to find. If that doesn't help, you might want to contact Dennis directly. the mini chat is actually a part of the forum, so no separate sign in is required. You can just scroll to the bottom of the index page to get to the chat, or click on the button at the top of the page to open in a different tab.

I assume you have already seen it, but in case not, scroll down to Dennis comments at the bottom of this discussion. it appears the browsers Cache is the problem. once I reset mine it has been ok since.
