Roy, Black Forest could be considered a northern "suburb" of Colorado Springs. At this point the fires are mostly moving north and east so the city of Colorado Springs itself is unaffected at this point. However, if he is planning on staying in a motel I hope he has reservations as the evacuations have become pretty extensive. My brother and SIL have a house they built that they are now renting right on the northern edge of the fires. If the wind doesn't change directions again, it should be okay.
