I'd say they pay to keep the forum up and running for us.

I understand the need for the adds in order for the forum to live, but when they pop up all over the place and I have to close them in order to read a thread it's down right ridiculous. To make matters worse on some of them the x's to close them is so faint I can barely see them.

Just clicking to reply on this thread, one popped up that took up almost half the screen.

I don't get those either. It sounds like you need to set your computer not to allow pop ups. If you are using Internet Explorer go to tools at the top of your screen and click on "Pop Up Blocker".

If the ads you are seeing are like the ones explained in this thread, there is your answer. If you are getting some more obtrusive pop-ups, you may have some sort of malware on your computer.

There are no "pop-up" ads on FarmallCub.com. If you are seeing those, it is coming from something else, like Jim mentioned earlier -- malware.
Google Malwarebytes -- it's free and will likely fix your problem.

I had tried setting the pop ups to there highest setting and that didn't change a thing. I have tried to find another problem with no luck so I thought maybe the advertisers just came up with a new way of doing things so we had to look at their adds.

The possibility that it was some problem such as malware is why I posted it here to see if others were having the same problem. I apologize if I worded my first post wrong so that it seemed that I only had a problem on this forum. Although here is where it first occurred.

The pop ups are the same on both IE and Chrome, I haven't checked Fire Fox.

Thanks for the help, I'll see about the malware.

edit
I forgot to add that, no Jim the pop ups I'm seeing aren't the same as in the thread you linked to. What I'm getting is certain words at random that are blue and double underlined. Some times the pop up's are linked spacificly to the key words. Such as alternator, then an add of where to buy an alternator pops up.

I wonder if there is an ActiveX control or some other sort of malevolent browser extension lurking in the background.

Mark:

These are the anti-malware programs that I use:
Malwarebytes
Superantispyware
SpyBot S&D
in conjunction with my antivirus program - System Mechanic Pro

Run them at least 1 per week and keeps me free of bots, malware, adware, trojans and all kinds of other yucky stuff that my puter doesn't like :D

I used to get the pop ups too but I switched to centrylink protection and don't get them anymore. The centrylink is free for 1 computer with us bundling our phone, computer and dish. Grump

I run Mozilla Firefox with the Ad Blocker add on, and do not even see the ads I am supposed to unless I tell it to allow them for that site, that includes pop ups.

I run internet explorer and do not get the pop ups. I do have my pop up blocker turned on but it does not indicate any pop up. Most likely male ware on your computer.

I use ad blocker too. However- be nice to Dennis and help support this site by making an exception to show ads here. Each ad display generates a little revenue for this free site.
