Selling a cub.

I am somebody who hates to part with things, but I decided to put one of my cubs up for sale. Funny there have not been any around me for sale recently. All of a sudden Cl seems to be flooded with cubs, I think counting mine too, there have been 5 posted in the last 48 hours, just found it funny to see so many hitting the market at one time. All in about a 30 mile radius. Buyers market?

Hang on to it until the spring Prices may go up a bit as the economy improves. Now the election is over and the fiscal cliff will probably be solved, there is already growth in the US economy so I expect that prices may start rebounding a little bit.

I agree with Rudi-for a different reason.

As the fabric of our once proud country continues to deteriorate, and the dollar continues to lose it's value, and the economy begins to crash

Many folks are going to return to trying to grow their own food. Thus the value of our cubs and implements will increase in the coming months and years, as the People dig in and fend for themselves once again.

Just a hope that stuff will improve some soon. Politicians aren't the only ones in an alternate reality If we say it enough maybe it will happen



As Dale said, there is starting to be a resurgence in locally grown/sourced as well as grow your own. Not that I want prices to go up too much (means I gotta pay more) but it will be nice to see more family gardens around. There are a couple startups just down the road from us and they are looking at small older tractors as economical means to be properly mechanized.

i think cubs will get cheaper not higher, unless it is a high dollar cub. High end products will hold they value as the well to do buyers are not effected by the economy . The cheaper cub will suffer as the average Joe will be tight with his money for a good while yet. jmo

Made me look, not a whole lot of Cubs around here for sale (never is) and the ones I saw were no competition to yours for price/quallity!

Probably folks looking for Christmas funds or just not wanting to store it for the winter??

Well thanks Larry, I figure if somebody comes along and wants it fine if not oh well. Keeping it would not be a terrible thing. I have been hoping to add on to the shop or maybe even a new barn up by my house.

Economy. Folks with money are putting it into things that hopefully will hold their value. Others are selling to make ends meet.

Inflation calculator: 1947 Cub worth $650-. Would take $6456.98 in 2011 to purchase if same item was still available.

Media. Adjusted first time unemployment claims for month, 300K to low 400K. New hires for same time period 120K. Yet unemployment percentage is slowly dropping.

My vote. Since you want to add to the shop and perhaps a new barn. Sell. $1.00 today will be worth 97 cents same time next year. Or what costs $1.00 today will cost you $1.03 in one year.

Your price seems right in line to me Joe. Its hard to find straight, stock tractors like yours, plus you have some nice implements with it. Craigslist has really driven down prices on these Cubs, just my opinion, but yes, I think it is a buyer's market right now and has been for a while.
