Canadian Radio

Postby beaconlight » Wed Feb 23, 2005 8:44 pm

I was on my way to and from Oneonta NY last night. Had a great Tommy Dorsey program on the radio from CHWO 740 AM Toronto. I enjoyed it for about 2 hours and could not help thank all our Canadian friends for such good taste in music. Some of the stuff they played i remember hearing as a kid.
Thanks

Bill:

Do you remember the days of CKLW :?:

Awesome radio station out of Windsor....

In the larger markets there is all kinds of stations providing everything from Classical to Jazz, Big Bands, Rock and Roll, C&W, Rock and that new stuff the kids think is music but is just NOISE...

Unfortunately in our smaller markets, the people who run the radio stations think teeny boppers pay the bills -- NOT :!: :!: :!:

CKLW, I loved to listen to that station as a kid. I could pick it up at night on a transistor radio that I had, and during the day on the car radio. That was in Dayton, Ohio, a good 4 1/2 hour drive to Windsor, due North. Could also get WABC in New York (remember DJ Cousin Brucie?), WBZ from Boston, WLS in Chicago, and of course stations in Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus. Great days, those were. DJs had wild personalities, like Wolfman Jack, but didn't need profanity to keep an audience listening.
