Many of you may not have heard of Joe Arpaio.

Joe is the Maricopa Co (Phoenix, AZ) sheriff, and has earned a reputation of being the country's toughest law man. 8) 8) 8)

He created the "tent city jail". He has jail meals down to 25 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies. He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

He started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again but only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel. When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.

He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value. When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't the Ritz Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back."

We all like Joe. His approval rating is like 90%. Nobody even tries to run against him in the elections :)

Damn! I kinda wish we could elect our sheriff's also. Here we gots to put up with the Federal and the Provincial "Bleeding Heart Liberals". The convicts get steak and eggs for breakfast, don't have to work hard, they get paid minimum wage and they all have TV's in each cell. I don't call that PUNISHMENT, I call it priviledges.

The guys that stood up and made sure that we all have our freedoms, well they get lines from those same Bleeding Heart Liberals that "Gee, I know what we demand of our soldiers, I just am not sure what we owe them" crap. The only thing the Veterans get here is screwed. Go figure.

I think I would like Joe  A LOT :!: :!:

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

You have to love this guy!!

I told you he is my hero :!: 8)

Mike,

I'm very sure Maricopa county is a better place because of Sherriff Joe. He's been a hero of mine for many years. I thought the pink uniforms were a nice touch! Committing crimes and having to go to jail should be a bad thing to avoid. Sherriff Joe understands that.

Some would say he's undermining the prisoners' self esteem. He and other sherriffs should... those guys shouldn't have any.

HUMMMMMM, good idea or what about Congressman Arpaio or even PRESIDENT ARPAIO? for 2008, of course. WE need a WHOLE LOT more people just like him, making and enforcing these kinds laws here in the US.

LET'S GET THIS MAN OUT IN WASHINGTON DC.

My hat is off to him, Way to GO Mr. Arpaio :!: :!:
