Postby Jim Reid » Fri Mar 21, 2008 7:28 am

The PO has a new flat rate box it's 12x12x5 1/2 for $12.95 anything you can place in it no weight restrictions if i have something that might puncture the sides i use 1/4 scrap plywood and make a box that will fit tight inside the flat rate box place whatever i'm shipping in the plywood box nail it shut then place it inside the flat rate box tape it tight and send it on it's way.just thought it might help someone in shipping some cub goodies.
Jim.

I just sent a woods mower shield in a priority post box. They helped me shove it in and tape it up. $10.25

It was about 1" too long for the box so they padded the end w/cardboard, folded the tabs and taped the crap out of it. Good people, went out of their way to save me money. :D

SSHHHHH - :o And they work for the Government :o

What's nice about those new large boxes is that two front wheel weights fit easily into them. Before you had to duct tape a pair of them together to get them to fit into the narrow flat rate box. I may still use the narrow boxes because then it only cost $8.95 to ship a pair of front wheel weights.

An even better tip is if you go to the USPS website, you can order cases of the Flat Rate boxes and they will deliver them to your house at no charge. Yes, free boxes delivered to your house free. It doesn't get any better than that! It really helps if you do a lot of ebay business to have the boxes right at home.

Here is the link to order the boxes. I usually order about 50 of each at a time. You can order a max of 500 of each box at a time.
