Furnace NG valve problem

Is anyone fluent with furnace valves. I just installed a new Honeywell gas valve in my furnace but I can't get enough gas flow to the pilot tip to do any good. I checked the pilot pressure and it is maxed out at 4.8 WC
It seems to be a volume problem. And yes, the pilot tip orfice is not obstructed.

Just out of curiosity what was the furnace doing that made you want to change the valve?

You have probably already thought of this but, is it possible that you don't have the correct orifice in the valve for the type of gas you are using? Natural gas and propane use different orifices, in my limited experience both come with a new valve, and the correct one must be installed before the furnace will operate properly.

The valve had to be replaced because the coil burned out. I got it working tonight after tweeking and %%(*(()#@ at it for more time than I care. The factory installed orfice said NG, with the LG stuff in a plastic bag.

If you have prpane, (bottled gas) you may have the wrong orifice installed NG =natural gas. LG (liquid gas) would be for propane systems. Thats my opinion. Frank

sounds like with the amount of W.C. you have there should not be a volume problem. might be an obstruction in the pilot tube its self.

i assume the pilot worked till the old valve quit. i'd check the tube or the outlet on the valve. seems like they had a wire screen in it that might of cought some trash from the incoming gas line. or too much pipe dope.
