Ice has arrived

Postby D.Nickerson » Thu Dec 13, 2007 4:18 pm

Well, the ice, rain, and sleet finally got here today. It's a mess out there today. At work 6:00 this morning they were already annoucing school closings and early dismisals. I left work at noon. Leaving work early is a heck of alot cheaper than fixing the GMC Jimmy 8)

I can't stand winter anymore. I'm only 35, but feel like I'm 70 in the winter. I've had arthritis since I was 12. Now it's all over my body. Kinda makes me think of Garth, "I'm much too young to feel this danged old".

I can't wait for spring! :D

Boy, did we dodge the bullet on this one. :D Just a little ice this morning, but it has been only rain all day. You guys to the north and east are getting it good, looks like.

Sounds like you were lucky. Yeah, it's a mess out there. It's been switching on and off all day. There will be lines and trees down tonight for sure. It's a beautiful site with all the ice hanging on the trees, but it sure is damaging.

The winter pics. Sorry Donny, I'm a little slow tonight. I'll see what I can get over the winter. It's dark now, I'll try to get some in the morning.

We're being told to expect 6 to 8 inches starting Saturday. Tomorrow is suppose to be dry and in the 40's. I guess I better finish my lights tomorrow and call it quits for the year.

In the mean time here are some pix of February this year.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Jim I have been by that bridge many times. Gladly most of the trips were in the summer. There is a series of 7 interconnected lakes there.

No snow and no ice here. We are still getting rain now and then.

I guess I could get a plow, take the cutting edge off it and put a squeegee on it to get the water off the driveway.

Only ice I've seen out here has been in a bucket of rainwater out front after the night. You guys got it rough out there - hope everyone's doing well with it. Radio reports sound like there's more to come too...

I haven't been up there much in recent years. The last of the Chain of Lakes is Eighth. But at least one is little more than a bay on another, so I'm not sure I'd claim there were 8 all together. Old Forge has a great old hardware store. Worth the visit just to see the store. I just checked, they have a web page.

I don't know when you were there last but it isn't like it used to be. Years ago if they didn't have it you didn't need it. It kind of goin touristy. :(
