Here in Ma. shotgun season opens Monday also. Supposed to rain here. I used to hunt in Potters County Pa. It seems there are fewer hunters every year.

My sons and my wife are hunters but not me. I guess the Army did me in on the hunting thing. Buck and Doe (Deer) season just ended in Missouri but, Doe season will open back up in a couple of weeks. So far this year my truck got one, my car got one and one of my sons got one.

Shotgun season for Deer….. How do you get all the pellets out when butchering? You would really have to be careful at the supper table or you would be eating pellets and maybe some chipped teeth!

I guess you can count me in. I told the wife that we're divorced for the next 2 weeks. Don't really care if I get anything but gives me 2 weeks to enjoy what God made for us. Good Luck and be careful. Grump

Not sure about other states but here slugs are allowed in the shotguns

I do a lot of deer hunting but not much killing. Pickings have been slim around here lately.

I found out from my sons you can use a shotgun here (Missouri) also with shells or slugs. Muzzle load season is open now.

Ma. shotgun

Postby Joe Malinowski » Sun Nov 25, 2007 2:00 pm

Most people use slugs only but buckshot is still legal. Its also way to dangerous as far as I am concerned.

Redman,

I understand exactly what you are talking about. It seems this day and age there is no respect for anyone and it isn’t wrong until you get caught.

Confronting a group of people like you did, usually ends up against you from my past experience. I have found out when confronting people one on one they seem to be a little less brave and not very impertinent.

I don’t know how powerful the wildlife conservation is in Ohio, but in Missouri the Missouri Department of Conservation is very powerful. If you can, get license plate numbers and most important, which is your expertise; put a long telephoto lens on your camera, hide, but with a view and snap a couple of good pictures of the hunters breaking the law and anonymously show them to a Ohio Department of Conservation agent.

In Missouri, when breaking the hunting laws, it’s like breaking civic laws. A Missouri Department of Conservation agent looks and dresses like a Missouri State Trooper with the same power to enforce the hunting laws.

You have every right to perform your business without the interference of some bad-mannered hunters!!! That is your civil rights!!!

its gun season here from mid oct. till jan. 1. i have two in the freezer which is plenty for my family but i'm still hunting for my father and uncle who love to hunt but they just don't hunt as hard as they use to. to give them one a peice would make my season complete. good luck guys and remember " one shot one kill" my your aims be true.

Neighbor family has killed 8 deer so far this season on their property. And another neighbor family has killed 10 does so far this season on their adjacent property. Still quite a few deer in the area. Saw 3 nice sized does this afternoon while visiting the acreage.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Ok, am I reading here that you can kill as many deer on YOUR property as you wish??? Or am I reading it wrong??

Not here. You need a license. In fact, if you have any game in the freezer aside from say rabbit and they check, you best have a licence or they WILL take it from you and charge you with illegal possession. The only ones who can have game here without a licence are First Nations people and their families.

To my mind there is nothing wrong with responsible hunting provided you take precautions when carrying weapons, especially when pointing one. Make sure that it is actually a deer, moose, elk or whatever game you are hunting and not something that might look like it to you at first glance.

I try to stay out of the woods during hunting season. Too many idiots who have a weapon and don't know the first thing about Fire Arms Safety. Yes, they have to take a course, but the ones teaching it, couldn't get on a real range if their lives depended on it as they are just too dangerous... and they make soldiers take Fire Arms Safety Courses.  :? :!:

Sheesh.. oh well..
