As we age we trade our ability to share our strength and mobility with others for the ability to share our knowledge and experience.
To share that knowledge and experience is what life prepares us for.
Keep up the good work John.

John,
I am only 38 years old, so I can only guess how you feel at this time. I cannot imagine it, truthfully. Please do not let the loss of physical ability bring you down. I know you jest and joke with others about this, but your mind is still sharp and you are more than willing to share this knowledge with others. (I have been the recipient of this knowledge, numerous times!)... Keep on keeping on, my friend. I am sure that you have PLENTY of gas left in the tank...

Hey John, (and George and others too!)
These posts struck me in a strong way havng just returned from my mom's funeral.
All the posts that have followed yours with encouragement and perspective seem to hit the nail on the head, and draw clear focus to one of the wonderful values of this community.
One of our society's rarest treasures is the exchange of wisdom from our elders for the strong backs of weaker (or younger!) minds! At 52, I'm kind of betwixt and between...not nearly as wise as many of our masters on this great community; but rusty enough to pay the price physically when I work too hard or a little too long!
Hang in there guys...you are valued for the depth of your experience and cheer of your wit...you make us think and smile...and we all want to return the favor.

I found this old Cub, Forgotten and Forlorn,
With pistons and valves frozen and worn.
Help from my buddies on Farmallcub.com,
And an engine from Ralph, (37’s the one),
Now ole Corky is running and back to life,
Much to the surprise of my dear, dear wife!

Hang in there John
This year I turned 50, its been OK. Chatting on line with you is always interesting and entertaining. I am sure taking a back seat is tough, but you have a lot to offer in other ways. A lot of people your age would not go near the computer yet here you are.
