I don't think there is anymore that I can say about this picture.

I will say that this past 4th of July we had some WWII re-enactors that would go up to salute and shake every vetrans hand along the parade route (at least the vetrans that they could identify).

There certainly is a lack of respect for the folks that put their life at risk to defend the country. I remember a time when saluting our troops was taught growing up to show the respect and praise for their dedication to the country.

Sadly, we are living in an increasingly "Hurray for me, screw you" world :(
It warms my heart when I see some of the younger folks who have been raised to respect others and themselves. Too many of the other kind, though...

I think it may be getting better. It's been a while since I've seen the disrespect for our national anthem when it's played at shows. Those who continue chattering and rummaging when it's played seem to be fewer. That's a GOOD thing. :D

I pulled afloat in our annual 4th.of july parade with our WW11 veterans riding and was overwhelmed at the number of people that stood saluted and cheered these elderly heroes i also saw tears in some of these mens eyes one of these men is a dear friend of mine who lost his best friend in battle he has tried to talk about what they encountered but he chokes up and just shakes his head and we change the subject in my eyes these men are heroes not the overpaid celebrites and sports figures.
Jim.

Them thar pipples asiitin on their butt's.. are a clear example of what is basically wrong with North American, England and a few other of the Industrialized Democratic Enlightened Societies.
  1. Take God out of the Schools and the morning prayer
  2. Take God Save the Queen, O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner out of morning devotions
  3. Take out our individual Oaths of Allegiance to our Countries
  4. Deny that our children have Responsibilities, Obligations and Duty
  5. Teach that God, Family and Country are not the 3 most important things to a society.
  6. Refuse to teach our children the definition of Respect, Dignity and Honour
  7. Allow the ACLU/and the Canadian Chapter of the ACLU to teach our kids they have RIGHTS but no Responsibilities, Obligations or Duty.
  8. Allow Political Correctness to be the second most important thing to money :!:

Polititical correctness...

Most people of my age are afraid to stand out in a crowd.
For instance, in my pocket town, every meeting start with a prayer.
People look around to see if anybody else will stand up, instead of following their own conviction...(correctness?) or conviction? :?: :?: :?:

I thought it was sad that it took a tragedy like 9/11 to bring a sense of patriotism back in to the general public. Sadly, I believe it has since waned for most.
