Your attitude in life

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Fri Feb 23, 2007 9:00 am

While waiting to catch a flight at the St. Louis airport a few years ago I went to the Burger King restaurant in the terminal for some breakfast (only place there i could afford to eat.). Two women with a small child came in, but the place was pretty crowded with no vacant tables. A man sitting by himself asked them if they would like to share his table. All was going well when the toddler who was playing with a toy at the table accidentally hit a glass of water sending it flying across the table, pretty much soaking the man. Of course the ladies were upset, repeatedly appoligizing to the man. He mopped the water off as best he could, looked the mother of the child in the eye, and said "By the time I get back to here in 2 weeks I will have been on 4 different planes, rented 2 different cars and stayed in 2 different motels. If that is the worst thing that happens to me I have got it made, it will be the best business trip of my life." There is no way to describe the look of relief on the face of the child's mother.

He could have gotten mad and given the mother and child a verbal dressing down, but he would have still been wet, and still would have had a plane to catch. As it was, he had some new friends that he may never see again, but they will remember him for many years as the man who made an awkward situation into a joke.

How do you react to problems?

you are part of the problem!!!

Some very good food for thought John.
Thanks
Ron
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

This is certainly an individual that we could pattern our lives after. There are many times when I find myself heading down the expected path of response. (getting upset) But the older I get the more often I find myself wondering why I thought something was such a big deal. On occasion I am even successful in curbing my response and finding the humor in things. It sure makes life more pleasant.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
