My new web page

Postby John Niekamp » Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:19 am

Hey guys, I just started making up a new web page tonight and am wondering on how well it loads up for you all. It's one of those "FREE" ones, so you know what they say about things being free. But they have banners and not pop-ups for ads, so I will see how it goes. the best part of this server was no bandwidth limits.

I don't have much on it yet, except for some pictures but they are a little big and I am worried about the loading speed for the dial up users. If this turns out to be a decent server I will make thumbnails and so forth.

Go to it and let me know how it reacts.

This was my first attempt in using an FTP type uploader program, so be easy on me I don't know what I am doing just yet.

:P I tried answering this post last night but nothing would work. Smilies and post submit were dead to any responce. Anyhoo John, I was very surprised at how fast your page loaded, Especially with the amount of pictures on your page. Now if it loaded that fast for me on dial-up _WebTv_ then it should not be a problem for any dial-ups. :P
Then came Bronson

Harold,

I found this doing some searching it's at: http://asphost4free.com/ I don't know how well it will work out, but what the heck, it's free !!!! :D I was getting sick and tired of using up all the allocated bandwidth at Geocities so I decided that I needed to look for something different.

I used Microsoft Front Page, as I said I never used it before and I had what little I had on it up and running in about about 30 minutes. You sign up and they email you the FTP server and your off.

Dancing :{_}: girls eh :?: Now that would be a nice attraction

Well I am happy to hear it loads decent for the dial up folks. I am on DSL as well, but it was loaded before my finger was even off of the mouse.

I will work on getting everything else uploaded and going and scaled down some....GOSH I hate HTML :( only because I know almost next to nothing about it. I know just enough to get myself into trouble :)

Thanks guys for the input and YES Rudi I will have my (grandpa's) old 54 Chevrolet 1 ton on it soon too, as well as all the great links like http://www.farmallcub.com
