Non-Cub radiator question

Postby Vern Campbell » Wed Feb 01, 2006 3:30 pm

Hello everyone

Boy, is it nice to be back checking out the forum! Health problems have kept me sidelined for the last several months, and I've been using the last couple of weeks to read the hundred+ posts I've missed.

Anyway, to my question. My daughter-in-law has a 1996 Olds Achieva with a plugged radiator. The fellow who has done any radiator work I needed for years has retired. So, once I get it removed, is this something that I can unplug myself, and, if so how? What would you recommend? She is hoping to repair this one after pricing a replacement.

Thanks for any thoughts you have.
Vern

Vern, I would think that once the radiator is removed, any good radiator shop could easily boil it out. If you want to attempt to clean it yourself you could try something like CLR to remove the deposits. But make sure you flush it well.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
