Since I cleaned out my old shop I decided I need to add some shelving. I have been watching the online county auction and found just what I need to fit into a space that I have. I was the lucky winner at $101.27 for 11 sections each 3 feet wide. That's only $3.07 per foot. Now it's time to start busting some of my herd in the head.

If you start breaking down some of those Cubs you have, you could fill all those cubby holes with parts--take over where Ralph left off...

Re: Making Room In The Old Shop
Heck, Bill, I'd be happy with just the building that could hold those shelves!!
One of my favorite shopping trips here in Chapel Hill is going to UNC's (Univ of NC) Surplus Store. I have bought desks, tables, storage cabinets, rolling carts, shelving, even hanging files and notebooks, for pennies on the dollar!
Oh, and some of my favorite items are rolling office chairs (like-new condition for $5-10)...they are GREAT as shop chairs...just ask the guys who used the one I took and gave to Mr E at this past year's DSCF!
Many universities have these stores...if you haven't already, check them out!
Great buy there Bill!!!

Re: Making Room In The Old Shop
Nice.
Are the vertical dividers removable? And can you remove a shelf? If so you could store some larger items.
Month or so back son picked up a unit with smaller drawers at auction. Wife and visiting daughter sorted nuts, bolts, washers, other small items, placing them in individual drawers.

I have an excuse. CRS.

There is a screw that can be removed to take the dividers out and the shelves can be repositioned by moving the bottom clip.

I probably won't be moving any of the shelves or dividers. I have plenty of shelving already with wider openings. I was looking for something for small items that tend to get lost on big shelves. These are only 12 inches deep and perfect for what I wanted.

Those shelves would have helped me sort out my basement (which desperately needs organization )
Maybe I should watch the local auctions by me.

Re: Making Room In The Old Shop
I bought a few sections of hardware stacking storage bins, (WITH 5/16, 3/8, & 7/16" Grade 5 bolts!), from a family-owned hardware store when they finally threw in the towel a few years ago.
If I had had nice shop space like a few of you guys, I would have bought a few of the "end cap" shelf units they had...came real close, but just had nowhere to put them.
So don't overlook those going out of business sales.
