Re: B-17 Crash this morning in CT
We had the "Aluminum Overcast" B-17 from the same outfit here in Lebanon back in May. Was a really neat trip back in time!! God Bless the folks in Connecticut.

It may be a long time before the NTSB issues a finding on the cause (s). An interim finding may be made. There may have been a problem with the aircraft or it could have been pilot error. The airplane would have to have been inspected and deemed airworthy within the last 100 hours of flight or within the last year if it flew less than 100 hours. Vern

While all mourn the loss of life it is also amazing to me that 8 people lived thru this. A report says the airplane touched down short of the runway.

Re: B-17 Crash this morning in CT
they say the plane had requested an immediate landing, had a problem with an engine, they had just taken off and had no power and were trying to return, after contact with the runway it hit an antenna on the runway sending them into the deicing station where it exploded, 7 dead on the plane, the other 6 some are bad shape and a couple almost walked away, they must have been in the rear of the plane to get out, the wing and tail you can see in the picture is about all that is left

It was horror in the skies over Germany. There is a lot to this bomber people don't know. Graveyards full of Pilots and Men who put their lives before our future. We must respect forever their sacrifice. They already Knew it was risky. They were young, healthy and spirit. It just has to be that spirit continues , the Soul continues to another plane.

these old war birds are a treasure . what a loss to the country , and to the brave folks who still fly them . they are true patriots with courage we need to make our young understand the sacrifices our fathers gave , so that true freedom ( so fragile ) is not lost . coppersmythe ........................................
