"China" The good kind!

Postby Brent » Tue Nov 22, 2005 10:24 am

:D :D :D This is way off the topic but it's kind of funny. We were at a show last weekend and my wife found a couple of plates that match the everyday set we use. She originally got the whole set years ago from the school district she worked for. The vendor wanted $165.00 for one dinner plate. When we got home I did a little research and it turns out we have about $4000.00 worth of China that she paid a buck a place setting for. It's called Wallace China the El Rancho pattern. Maybe I can buy that F-14 I've wanted for so long! You might want to do a sneek inventory of your China cabinets.
Always try the easiest thing first.

Brent that is a good deal. But not to burst your bubble, a F14 goes for a little over $4000.00

I suppose that depends on whether you are thinking about a McCormick-Deering F-14 or one made by Grumman.

when dad was in the navy, mom was able to save $50 (lot of money in 1955 especially military pay back then), over the course of a year, and sent it to him while he was in italy. with instructions to buy the best set of itailain china that he could for $50. well, being a prudent shopper he looked and looked. he could only find a china set for $52.00, so he chose not to get it, and purchase two shotguns instead with the money. so for $25 a piece he got a 16 and 20 gauge double barrel shot guns. and sent them with a note stating the china was not within reach, but these were and they could go hunting together upon his return. (not a happy return), anyway, fastforward to 1983, dad had them guns appraised, they came in at $5000 a piece, due to the intriquite detailed engraving up and down the entire stock and barrells. showing em off one day the broke, drug addictted brother in law and his "friend", ......... needless to say couple days later one was missing, and the brother in law had a new engine in his car and money to move to california. huh. the other one, under lock and key. up for sale one of these days, anyone know anyone?
