Son went into Department of Motor Vehicles to renew his chauffeur's license. They wouldn't accept his current, almost expired, license as ID.

He had to come back with his social security card, past and current income tax filings, and he also went back with his unexpired passport.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Was that for the new "REAL ID"?
I had to renew my regular driver's license last year, and chose to go ahead and get the "real ID" (required for travel next year) which required all sorts of ID and documentation! At least I made an appointment so it didn't take too long.

No. Son's passport is real ID.

I think it was to check on how many commercial driver's licenses son had. And second, I think there are a lot of fake identification documents out there.

I got the star last time. I renewed on line and it was easy and came quickly....then I read the above and said phooey, I forgot that I had a star and will have to go through the process again. Pulled out the license and they had renewed the star...on line...all those Id's to get it originally and they renewed it on line!
