Sowed red clover on light snow cover with the ground heaving/cracking open.
Been checking but so far no clover emerging. Shouldn't red clover be sprouting by now?

Re: Red Clover. You'd think so. But everyone tells me clover has a mind of it's own. Planted some last spring on a deer lease, prepared the ground and disk it good, it rained like mad. Was down there the other day and some clover is coming up. We are letting the lease go, but maybe it will grow for the few deer on there.
Folks say, plant in the fall for spring clover, and spring for fall clover, cause you never know when it will take off. Seems to me like dad never had that kind of problem. Good luck with it. Guiena, 1951 Farmall Cub; Jumping Willy, 1949 Farmall Cub.
Re: Red Clover.I planted 37 acres of Red Clover in the Spring of 2011, and nothing came up... This year, the Red Clover has come up like gangbusters! (and I didn't replant!) Maybe it does have a mind of its own?

Re: Red Clover.I mixed some 'alsike' red clover in with a shade blend of grass seed. It seems to be doing very well in places. Especially where it's 'damp', but a tough year for damp.

Re: Red Clover.I planted red clover as a cover crop, on Sept 8th. I have some nice looking seedlings, growing. I had some "dud" seeds I planted a few years ago, with no germination. Seed quality varies and we have no way of telling how good or bad the storage conditions were. Ed
