plant now

I have cleared another 1/2a for future garden. Some of it is on a slope and part is flat. The soil will not be ready to plant a cash crop for at least a year maybe 2. My concern now is erosion on the slope and building the soil. What cover crop can be planted this time of year? I have only planted cover in the fall.

spring oats go to a feed store and buy raw spring oats, as long as they have not been processed they will grow.
