Re: Anybody Get a Thunderbird?Nice...
They don't hold up too well when you try and pluck em with a flail mower Guess they have established a good population in Mass too. Amazing how quick the flocks in Maine have grown. Never saw one 15 years ago and I counted 22 little ones in a group I saw the other year. 1971 Cub (Rufus) 1950 Cub (Cathy) 1965 Lo Boy Fast Hitch (Nameless III) 1970 Cub 1000 Loader & Fast Hitch (Lee)

Good one! If it's any indication on my tendency to stick with what works and resist change...check out the vest I am wearing! That's my original vest I bought in 1988 or so when I was a 19 year old...Treebark Camo! It still fits and it still works...just like my shotgun. Yes, it's not all pretty like those new $900 camouflaged shotguns. But like my vest, I have had this 11-87 for over 20 years and I just see no need to replace it. Re: Anybody Get a Thunderbird?I've takin the spay can to several of my ole hunting guns before you could buy them with factory camo.
One of my 69 cal smooth bore civil war rifles gets the camo tape before turkey hunting. Love that ole gun, you can mix what ever load you feel like using with little of this and that... It's a thrill taking a turkey or deer with a 150+ year old rifle. Love the vest, I just found a new set of pants and shirt in my gear just like them. Those were the top line in their day and still look great. ![]() Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Ben Franklin
Re: Anybody Get a Thunderbird?
Yep, the ole Tree Bark camo, I think I still have a set around here somewhere. It don't look like I am gonna get my bird this year. I have only had time to go twice, worked turkeys both times but, it seems the ole red heads like a hen much better that they can see rather than one that is hidden in the brush that they can't see. ![]()
Re: Anybody Get a Thunderbird? They have season so late around here that it's pretty much done by the time it starts. Used to get a week or two of hunting in before the leaves came on, now their all the way out the first week of season making it hard to hear anything...
I've not been out for 4 years now but I used to wear them out. ![]() Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Ben Franklin
Re: Anybody Get a Thunderbird?
That's pretty much the same situation where I hunt in SW PA. The season needs to start two weeks earlier than it does. I hunted this past Saturday and heard one bird gobble. Don McCombs
