Another Winter Chore to do...I took out some old hard leather slings and picked up a quart of neatsfoot oil that softens hard leather so its soft and usable again. After two wipe downs with the neatsfoot oil on both sides and letting them soak overnite on each soaking/wipe down there soft again. Then i take the brass buttons and hardware and polish it up using simichrome polish. It removes the tarnish and corrosion plus the brass shines again like new. So far i have brought every old rifle sling back to life again. This stuff works great on any hard dried out leather.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
Re: Another Winter Chore to do...When I worked outside a lot I kept my boots well saturated with neatsfoot oil. Went through 2 sets of soles before I had to give them up. The leather made a few nice gaskets then.
