Farmall Cub

This accident happened just north of West Plains, MO, on Friday, April 13, 2012.

Two brothers decided to tow a semi-tractor to the recycling center with a Ford tractor. They hooked the truck to the tractor with a log chain and away they went. They were doing OK until they had to go down a hill. Now they were not the brightest two lights in the box since the truck had no brakes. As you can see the truck over-ran the tractor. Believe it or not, the brother driving the tractor suffered only minor injuries after being trapped and rescued by firefighters. He was treated at the emergency room and released. The firefighter who helped with the rescue simply said: "He was blessed."

Be careful, guys, when towing anything with your tractor.

Thats a great reminder of what can happen when things are not well thought out!!
I guess they now have more stuff to haul to the scrapper...

Those rear tractor tires will pick up whatever runs into them and deposit it right on top of the driver. Always keep that in mind whenever towing anything. An old neighbor (he had an Oliver dealership for years) of ours showed me a picture of a Cockshutt tractor setting on top of his Oliver tractor similar to the picture above.

The story he told me went something like this. When he was younger, they had several tractors on the family farm. One of them was the Cockshutt 50 with a wide front end. The starter didn't work for some reason so to start the tractor he would put it in neutral and chained it behind another Oliver tractor they had. He did this in a large open area so it was "safe". He would get the Oliver going in first gear, pulling the Cockshutt, climb off the Oliver climb on the Cockshutt put it in gear, let out the clutch and start the tractor. He'd then put the Cockshutt in neutral and climb off of it run back up to the Oliver climb aboard and stop the tractor and unchain the Cockshutt and he was ready for work with the Cockshutt.

One day everything went as usual except he forgot to put the Cockshutt in neutral. He started driving the Oliver forward to start the Cockshutt the same way he had done many times but as soon as the Cockshutt moved it fired up. He was not expecting this and never even got a chance to press in the clutch before the wide front end contacted the rear tires on the Oliver. The front of the Cockshutt climbed up the back of the Oliver knocking Ted off the tractor right between the rear wheel and hood of the tractor. Lucky for him, once the front axle got over the rear tires, it stalled the Oliver before it ran over him. He didn't get a scratch!!

All I can say to both of them is WOW!!!
