PSA: Shipping tractor weights
I know a lot of folks like to use USPS Priority Flat Rate boxes to ship tractor weights. A word of warning... please make sure you use strapping tape to secure the box. My sister-in-law is a rural postmaster and grabbed a flat rate box from high up on a shelf. The flaps of the box had been secured with staples. A 40# suitcase weight identical to the one pictured came through the bottom of the box and fell 6' onto the top of her foot, breaking it in 3 places along with her big toe. It's been 4 weeks and she still doesn't have any feeling in most of her foot and her toes are rotating through an alarming array of colors. She may need multiple surgeries and pins put in her foot if this doesn't resolve itself quickly and may never regain feeling.

I think I’d be looking for the person who put that package up on a six foot shelf. They had to have known what the implications of that action would be.

She is still off work and is having complications. She may lose some digits as a result. Not good...
