So what's the difference

Postby Spazlux » Wed Sep 13, 2017 8:06 pm

Ok all you gurus of all thing Cubs, what the difference of theses lift arms (?). I believe my 154 has a woods L59 deck, again the guy I bought it from wasn't sure what it was as it was in need of repair/paint and he did fix/paint it. I have the chains, but I keep seeing photos of 154s with what appears to have a metal "arm". I've been checking wood manuals but only see them showing the chains. So does anyone know what they are or part number, and is it possible to get them to fit my deck? Thanks in advance. :thanx:

Without looking up the WOODS manual, it's my guess that the OEM part is the flat metal strap that has the slot in it for "floating" the mower. Using short chains will allow a wider range of vertical "float" and is pretty common in applications where that is deemed necessary or desirable. Mine has chains and 1/4" shackles for connectors.

Mine has the arms/straps. Not much to them, and you could probably make a pair pretty easily with some flat bar. I did notice that mine are bent or crimped slightly where they attach to the deck, but I don't know if it is by design, or just the effect of 40 years of use.

Woods mowers come with chains, International 3160 mowers came with the flat bar as seen in the second picture.

Just acquired a 185 W/ woods 59. Been searching, but cant seem to find a manual for the deck. I saw the manual mentioned in this thread. Where can I find a down load ?

You need to have made two posts to get access to the manuals. After the second, click on "quick links" (upper left), then "PDF manuals". then "OEM attachments". and finally on "Woods". Welcome to the Forum.
