Cub 185 battery ignition timing
I have a farmall cub that the engine has been replaced with a cub lo-boy 185 engine. I started to set timing but not sure which mark to use on crankshaft pulley has 2. Also what is the best procedure for setting the timing?

One mark is TDC and should have a 0 next to it. The other is 16° BTDC and is where timing should set with the engine at full RPM. Use a timing light, but timing by ear also works.

Engine rotation. The first mark to line up with the pointer is the advance mark. 2nd mark to line up with the pointer is the TDC mark.
Static time the engine. Then if you desire you can fine tune with a timing light. Normally static tuning will be spot on.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Engine at TDC on compression stroke, pointer should align with the second mark. Rotor should be at the tower for #1 spark plug lead.
