Splitting a Lo Boy 185

Postby Brianleibo » Tue May 31, 2016 7:23 pm

My 185 stops but the brakes definitely need to be replaced. The adjusters are maxed out and I'd want to do the brakes but it seems like a job to split. Is it easier than it looks? Also is there a gasket in between the finals and transmission. :tractor:

You can remove the final drives and replace brakes without removing the transmission.

Looking at my 154 today. You will need to remove the rear end of the tractor to remove the finals. The frame of the 154 is bolted to the rear axle housing/finals.

There is a seal on each side of the differential to prevent hydraulic fluid from leaking out. Once tractor is split, good time to replace the seals.
I have an excuse. CRS.
