Brakes won't disengage on a 69 cub lo boy

Postby diogenes74 » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:57 pm

I have a 69 cub lo boy and for some reason the right side brake won't disengage.....the left side will move freely while jacked up from the perspective of sitting on the tractor. Worked fine as I parked her from the mowing season. The " parking break " is not engaged ... I put her in gear and she goes no where so I am assuming it's something with the brakes...so.... Not sure where that leaves me !?!?!?!?! .. Any help would be great trying to get her ready for the big snow so I can go play !!!!!

It's been pretty cold in Salt Rock, WV. Are you sure it's not ice in the transmission or the right final?

I am amazed.... I don't typically clang and bang on stuff bc most of the time I brake something....but after slamming back and forth on the brake in gear then putting her in neutral she rolled back and forth !!!!....it broke free!!!!.. Whats the reasoning of it ?!?!?!

if equipment sets any length of time don't use the breaks to secure it.
chock the wheels instead.
we had that problem with IH combines on the farm years ago.
they would be used hard for a few weeks then stored the rest of the time in a drive shed.

this was a start up procedure every year to get the breaks freed up.

check the breaks to make sure they work and have fun moving snow.

Even though it's under cover, being in an unheated space, I wouldn't rule out ice.
