New Coil - - - Bad?
How do you know if a coil is bad or not? I replaced the coil on my 154 but this one seems to be getting too hot as well. After about 40 minutes or so it will start to sputter and want to stall. Carb has been rebuilt, tank appears clean (what I can see). Tune up has been completed. Why is the new coil getting so hot? Is there something else causing it, . . . .or just bad luck on a purchase. Any way to test the coil?

Re: New Coil - - - Bad?
Check your points. Mine kept getting burnt up after installing a new coil and would run like crap. Problem was the new coil didn't have a built in resistor so it was arching across the points. Bought a coil resistor at the parts store for a few bucks and it solved the problem. New points are about six months old now and are still in great shape and the tractor runs like a champ.

Electronic Ignition. Not sure know how long ago it was installed, but I have considered replacing it with a new one. However, before I spend the money, I'm hoping it will be something less expensive.
