My cub starts up great and seems to run best with just a little choke at first. Over time, I have to increase the choke slightly to keep it running as it wants to sputter out and die. After about 45 minutes, I can't pull the choke out anymore so that marks the end of my mowing. If I let it sit for awhile, I'll be able to run it again.
What is causing this? I'm guessing there's a problem with fuel flow since I have to reduce the air flow to keep it running. Do you think it's a fuel filter clog, dirty carb, something else?
Thanks

Re: Gradually have to increase choke to keep running.
Try removing the drain plug on the carb to see if the fuel flows in a good stream without slowing down. Allow about a quart to drain into a container. If it slows down there is a restriction in the tank, shutoff valve or somewhere else downstream to the carb. If it does not slow down and/or stop there is a restriction in the carb. From your description it sounds like the main jet probably needs cleaning. Also don't overlook the possibality of the tank not venting properly. If you remove and split the carb be very careful of the idle tube/jet, it is easily broken if the carb is not pulled straight apart. You will probably need a new gasket to reassemble it. A healthy dose of SEAFOAM additive in the fuel might also help clean out the carb. Stan

You mention fuel filter clog. If you have a filter in the line, first thing I would do is bypass it and see what happens.

Clean the fuel bowl first.
Check the gas flow next.

I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
