LoBoy 154 not charging

Have a 154 that is not charging. Checked all the wiring connections and grounds. Installed a new voltage regulator. Went through the troubleshooting flow chart down to the last test (#4) that says "jumper "BAT" and "GEN" terminals at regulator", and ammeter shows a DISCHARGE.
Is this telling me that the starter/generator is bad?

Will the starter generator (S/G) crank over or start the tractor? If so the problem is other than the S/G.

Yes, it will start the tractor. I'll go back through all the connections again.

Found the problem. The ammeter was bad. It would show a discharge but not charge. Changed to a new ammeter and the tractor is now charging.
