Lo-Boy 185 Questions

Hello all,
I just acquired a Lo-boy 185. I had seen it sitting for at least four years before I got my paws on it so it has not run in a LONG time. The carb is no where to be found. I have a Zenith from an old gravely L that looks close to the Cub carbs. Any chance that it would work on the LoBoy?

If not, what is the carb number I am looking for?

Any advice for where to begin on a rig that has been sitting for so long? (So I don't mess up the engine)

I can't give you the Zenith number, but you might check with either HamiltonBobsCubs or JP Tractor Salvage (Forum sponsors with links at the bottom of the page) for either new or used carbs. The Graveley might work if the linkages and jets are similar. Also, welcome to the Forum.

Its possible to cobble up other carbs on cub motors,---just dont expect the motor to run/pull like it should. thanks ; sonny

The zenith carbs have interchangeable throttle bodies which change the CFM' s the older 6,6 HP gravely's used smaller CFM carbs. The 7,6 HP gravelys used the larger CFM carbs. The outside body of the carb is the same.
The throttle body sleeve controls how much CFM.

I THINK mcdonaldcarb has these sleeves if your lacking power. Remember the gravely carb has a low speed screw and a high speed screw.
