Done! Thanks, guys, for the input.

I also did some research about which rear gear/hydraulic fluid to use. Ended up going with the Hy-tran as opposed to the TSC/JohnDeere/New Holland stuff, even though I had to drive an hour and a half to get it from my local Case/IH dealer.

Seems to have made an instant improvement in the speed and responsiveness in my hydraulic system over whatever was previously in there.

Good to hear. Someone had probably used standard 30w oil or even worse, gear lube in the transmission. I've seen it LOTS of times. Unfortunately, the earlier Farmall Cub tractors could use gear oil in the transmission, since it was only a gear case. The number series uses the gear case as the hydraulic reservoir, so using gear lube in there really works the hydro pump hard!
