I am new to the lo-boy 185 tractor. I really like it and want a three point hitch. My tractor doesn't have any parts for the hitch and u was wandering is it possible to take the hydrolics from the belly and mount them on the back? They look similar to the back hitch parts. I can't afford to buy the parts cause everywhere I have looked they are real expensive. Please if anyone has any suggestions or ideas it would be a big help thanks

The 3-pt on 185/154 etc are extreemly complicated in nature.--You can look in the parts manual and see all the stuff that gotta be set up just right and actually not worth the trouble! thanks; sonny

Yup. Not worth the trouble. As you have discovered, parts for the 3-point are available, but expensive.

There are very few 3-point equipment for the numbered Cub low-boys. Most standard 3-point equipment will not work, PTO turns in the wrong direction. If you want or need a 3-point, cheaper to purchase an other tractor with standard PTO and factory built 3-point.

The only thing I use the 3-point on my 154 is to tow a trailer. My 154 does not have the drawbar.

Thanks guys I didn't know. Like I said I'm new to it and it runs like a top and seen pics and videos Of the three point hitch in work and its nice to watch. All I was wanting it for was to use it for a box blade that I was going to home make. I have been a welder for a long time and I'm itching to make something for it.

Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. I'm not familiar with the whole 3 point issue, but, welder, try to get some help getting drawings and start fabbing.

The cylinder used on the 3-point is the same part number as used under the belly.
Adding a 3-point to a numbered loboy is usually about an $800 addition. The 3-point hitch from a 154 or a 184 will also fit the 185. Some people have fabricated their own 3-point.

I use the following attachments with my 3-point hitch:
3-point blade, Trailer Mover, Rototiller (Designed for this tractor PTO)

A box blade would be a very good use for this tractor's 3-point hitch.

If you're a welder then don't worry about building a 3-point hitch for your tractor, it should be pretty simple. Look up photos of the actual 3-point setups, and you'll see that the attachment brackets are a bit complicated, but really not too tough to fabricate. Also, keep in mind that this is NOT a precision instrument. If you can get things to bolt up, it will likely work fine. You can pick up 3-point lift arms from Tractor Supply or online. Just build things to Cat-1 specs, and you'll be good to go.

As an alternative, one of the hardest parts to build would be the adaptor plate that mounts to the tractor, that everything else bolts to. You might try looking at HamiltonBobs.com or on e-bay for just that part, as it may be worth purchasing just so you don't have to fabricate that specific part.

You are correct, the existing hydaulic cylinder is the same as the one for the 3-point, so just make up some longer hoses and re-position it and you're in business.

I was in the same boat with my 154 and decided to pay for a used three point hitch for my tractor. The comments about buying another tractor with a 3 point hitch have merit but that means another tractor that requires maintenance and a place to store it. I use my tractor to plow snow, pull a scraper blade, and mow using a Woods belly mower so the PTO turning backwards is a non issue for me. If you cannot justify or afford more than one tractor I say go for the three point hitch.

You can make your own 3-pt. for the tractor,---If you really have the need for one that small!---I find my 154 3pt. TOTALLY useless and just in the way hanging back there, BUT its too hard to take off so I hope to trade the tractor and blade for a regular cub,--A, or AC-b-c or something comparable! thanks; sonny
