Any tips on easily removing a stuck pto pulley on a 184? Too flimsy to pull from the OD, and no groove or flange on the hub. Looks like it will need to come off to hook up the top link on the 3 point. Thanks!

Not sure which pulley you have, but it more than likely does not require a puller. Go to the 'how to' forum and under videos barnyard has a how to video on removing your pulley. More than likely that's the kind of pulley you have.

BTW, it's the rear pto belt drive pulley (8") that is on the outside of the body, that drives the mower.

You need to upgrade your Adobe plug-ins .. in this case the media player so that youtube will work properly.

If you have a woods mower pulley then there are two 1/4 bolts holding the assembly together. The assembly consists of a tapered hub and the pulley. The tapered hub is the center held in by the two bolts. Remove those two bolts and place them in the other two holes in the hub. Then turn those bolts in evenly and they will push the pulley off the hub allowing you to remove the pulley. Sometimes the hub might need a little persuasion to come off but it should be no problem. That is if something hasn't been welded together! Lets hope not. If you have a IH pulley I believe there are three bolts instead of two

He most likely has the stamped pulley, spray it with penetrating oil , let it soak. work it back and forth, it will break loose with some time Boss

Before removing the pulley install the toplink and whatever attachment you plan to use. I have a 154 and I can have the pulley on my tractor and still use a scraper blade without hitting the pulley.

Using a little heat on the pulley near the splines will expand the bore so it can be removed. We put wet rags behind the pto shaft to prevent the heat from traveling down the shaft. Once it's apart and you go to reassemble it I would suggest a Moly anti Seeze should be applied to the shaft. I do also a trick when heating any diameters I heat half the diameter only. Most of the time we don't need to heat the whole diameter. Think about it half the circle when heating it is enough to expand it and release it. Plus it save gas and time.
I had this problem on my 3pt hitch when I used the single tooth ripper. I did fix it from hitting the pto mower pulley by adjusting the lower limit using the chains on the lower 3pt arms.
