I pushed in the clutch last fall and something snapped and I couldn't get the clutch to disengage. I towed it to the garage and used my other tractor, but now am finding time to look at it. Seems one of the pivot pins for the pressure plate is missing. has p/n IH-405986-R1, but everywhere I look doesn't have it, and I'd rather avoid spending $100 on a whole new pressure plate.
Can anyone tell me hte diameter of the pin, or a place I can buy it?

Re: cub 154 pressure plate pin
Suggest calling the local IH dealerships within say about 50 miles and see if they don't have the pin in stock.
Next suggestion is to measure up the other pins and do some research. More than likely the pin is or was an industrial standard.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Thanks ill give some dealers a call. The other pins are in there pretty well, they're in there with friction so I'd like to avoid removing them if possible.

Re: cub 154 pressure plate pin
That pin is probably made from real good stuff. A standard pin might not last long. A quick check on Messicks shows it available, not in stock at about $11.50. Sticking the number into google says Kalscheur Implement Co. Inc (Cross Plains, WI Phone: (888)594-6031 Fax: (608)798-1113) has 11 of them in stock.

Re: cub 154 pressure plate pin
Got the pin from Kalscheur, $14 shipped and it'll be here in a couple days. I tried googling hte part number unsuccessfully, every place came up with nil. When I called the guy looked and it said none, but then he checked under Case and it came up. Odd, but at least I have the part I need.
Thanks much.

Re: cub 154 pressure plate pin
Got the pin installed. It's about 1/2" to short... I double checked the p/n's and everything matched, it's the right part number, just doesn't fit. It goes in and completely disappears short of the outside pivot points. I'm going to take a micrometer to it and check it's dimeter then try to find a drill bit the same size and cut it to size. Hopefully that will work unless someone else has a better idea. If I order the same part again, i'm pretty sure i'll end up witht he same part that doesn't fit.

Re: cub 154 pressure plate pin
Ended up finding a 1/4" pin that was 1.5" long, perfect. It had a head on it and a pin hole so I put some wire through the hole and tied it off... and mowed the front lawn. Let me tell you, after a season on a dinky craftsman/MTD/white mower, getting up on that thing really reminds you you're on a real tractor. It started to rain, after that lets up I'll do the back lawn, and just use hte bagger mower to get between the house and hte pool so no one tracks grass all over.
