Postby amondry@amfam.com » Wed May 22, 2013 10:04 am

Kindly help. How do you remove the hood on the 154 lowboy tractor? Do you take the bolts off and then remove the gas cap? Is there a trick? Can't seem to get hood off. annette

Remove radiator cap. You may not have to remove gas cap. Depends on style of cap and alignment of hood. Remove 4 bolts holding hood, two on each side. Should come right off. Mine does.

4 bolts, one in each corner of the hood hold it on the tractor. Remove the bolts, remove radiator cap, hood should lift off. You may need to remove the gas cap.
I have an excuse. CRS.

The rubber boot around the gas cap dries out, cracks and becomes a bear to work with.
Use a little penetrating oil on the gas tank neck and work it in with a very little screwdriver. Work your way around the neck until you can wiggle the hood side to side and get it to slide. It takes some effort but it does come off.
