Re: # 50 snowblower
Yes sir. Just what I was looking for. I been calling it a blower but I guess it is a thrower. I cant read it to good but I think it is a 12 tooth going to a 28 tooth. And if the pulleys on the back are the same then this thing will turn about 425 RPMs. I am going to have to balance it. We have about 30 inches on the ground right now. Waiting to start syruping soon I hope. If it thaws out out there and you can get to it can you let me know how big the tube is in that thing. It will make a good summer project, like I need another. Ha. Thank you Harold

Re: # 50 snowblower
Harold:
You are welcome. Yup, a single stage is a snow thrower, a two stage with an impeller for the chute is a blower. I am still trying to get my snow blower for my Cub done -- too many other projects that took priority have kept that one on the back burner for a while.
We are expecting a foot of snow between now and tomorrow -- a big system coming from Cape Cod and one coming from out your way have combined and we are in for a bunch I guess.
Soon as it melts and I can have some access I will take pics with the measurements etc., that you need. mine if pretty much complete c/w the drive shaft and gear box, chains and sprockets. But man is it a beast

Re: # 50 snowblower
The pulleys on the PTO and driveshaft are the same size (1:1) for the model 50 blower.
The right angle gearbox is probably not an exact 1:1 ratio.
Just don't forget that this was built for a numbered series so the PTO is turning about 2000 RPM's. Being a thrower (not a blower) it does have to run at full RPM to throw the snow anywhere. Anything less and the snow would just end up on top of the sheet metal.
You might want to widen your search to include a McKee Snolander as well. That would be a 2-stage blower and they made it for many different tractors. One of them was for the numbered series.

Re: # 50 snowblower
I wonder which would be the most efficient a blower or thrower. Not a lot of power on the 154. Ha.
Thanks for the blower info to outdoors4evr. Looks interesting.

Re: # 50 snowblower
Snow blower without a doubt. If you have the creeper gear on your 154 then a two stage would be rather useful. The SnowLander is built up here by McKee. I have only seen one for a Cub of any type.
I am also a member of the yahoogroup for the numbered series and there are some photos over there of some projects using other snowblowers and part of the mounting gear for the IH50. These look like they would run well.

That one appears to be an ATV style snow blower and they adapt quite nicely for both the Numbered Series and standard Cubs and Cub Lo-Boys.
This is the search string I used: mckee snowlander for cub 154

Re: # 50 snowblower
The two stage snowblower works by far way better than a snowthrower (single screw)
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Re: # 50 snowblower
This one has been posted here locally on Craigslist for over a year now. I just found it again, for sale posted yesterday:
http://buffalo.craigslist.org/grd/3701572452.html
Actually both the tractor and snow blower look to be in very good condition. Not sure I'd pay $3200 for it, and I'm fairly sure that's been the price for over a year, so you might be able to make an offer on it.
