Once you get all the valves unstuck, it would be a good idea to adjust them.

Re: 154 Stuck Valves
#1 to seize valves on cub L head engine: Ether
Stuck valves are not too bad.
Prior to restoration, my uncle had tried to jump start the '47 cub and used alot of ether and never got it started.
Because the porting into the L head engine sits in the block atop the pushrod cover and ether like anything else runs downhill, and because the machine was sitting before that, and because the machine did not start(he connected the jump wire to the mag ground lug and burned the wire off the coil, the ether cleaned and dried the valves and pushrods, and they rusted in place. In addition to taking off the side inspection cover, had to pull off the oil pan and head to free them.
1) One good thing is that I saw the engine had never used detergent oil...good to know.
2) The other lesson for everyone out there is: If anyone ever uses ether to try to start an L head cub and do not succeed, make sure you spray some marine fogger or
silicone lubricant into the intake and crank it a bit before letting it sit. If you get back to it, that is fine, but like everything else life gets in the way and tomorrow may be next decade.

Re: 154 Stuck Valves
Ditto on the deal i would of grabbed it too.
I use seafoam in the crankcases and gas tanks in all my tractors it's an upper lube. The valves do dry out and stick but with using seafoan it can't happen.

I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Re: 154 Stuck Valves
Add seafoam to the gas tank and crankcase this will lube the upper and lower section of the valve stems and guides.
BTW You stole this 154 with the attachments. Wait till you get her running and mow with it. These are awesome machines too. I love the fcub and the int154's.
I see these in excellent looking and running condition sell for $3,500.
