Hi,
I'm a new member. Just got a Lo boy 154 without a 3 point hitch and I've been looking to buy one or to build my own. I read a post by "DanBuckman » Tue Dec 08, 2009 5:06 am" who built his own very nice 3 point hitch. Are you still out there Dan? Wondering if anyone has plans and dimentions for a lo boy 154? I'm not too familar with the lo boy specs even though I've wanted one for many years. Thanks. Appreciate any help I can get.

I would be willing to bet you could buy a factory, bolt-on 3-point for less than the cost of fabricating one. Look at HamiltonBob's website (site sponsor) for lo-boy parts. That's his specialty.

The big problem is that you need to add a hydraulic diverter valve, piping, and separate rear hydraulic cylinder before you add the 3-point hitch arms and stuff. If it were just the arms, it would be a piece of cake and cost nearly nothing. The cost for the hydraulic stuff is typically several hundred $$, and it involves quite a bit of work to get it all piped and hooked up correctly. Add in a couple of hundred $$ for steel, pins, bolts, etc for the hitch, and you can easily spend $500 to build one yourself. That's why I say you're probably better off to just buy a factory one for $400 or $500 and just bolt it on without having to go through all the painstaking work of trying to figure out how to make it work.

I have not built one for a numbered series but have 2 154s with 3 points. Not much to them. Need a hydraulic cylinder, hose, "t" fitting to tap into the hydraulics, use the original valve, you do not need a diverter valve although it would be nice. The Surplus Center has lift arms, cylinder, hose that would work. May not be worth the effort but I expect you could make on for around $200 or so. Hamilton Bobs will have them for sale but I expect he will want around $700 or so. If you can get one for $400 then I would do that but I have not seen any Worksaver kits or others for the numbered series.

Thanks for the advice. I tried Hamiltonbobs and another place I found on ebay but neither has the complete hitch. I think I have most of the parts except for the rock shaft and lower mounting braket. Unfortunately, I don't know how or where these bolt on so I'm having most of my problems figuring this out. The rock shaft is part of a weldment that has two plates on each side, the plates bolt to the frame rails. I do not remember right now as to where they bolt, through the final drive bolts, into the trans, or bolt only to the frame itself. The lower mount just bolts overtop of the plate on the back of the trans, just uses slightly longer bolts.

I have been checking my archives and unfortunately I cannot find anything from Dan Buckman. I do remember it.

I did purchase some lifting arms from a kubota. The surplus center did have them but they maybe all out now. I figure to fab one too. Bits and pieces can be found on ebay.
