154 Throttle

Just got finished installing a new throttle cable on the 154 and was very bummed to discover that the governor linkage is stuck. I did notice that the cable end can connect on one of two spots on the the linkage and it is currently on the lower hole. Regardless of which hole it's in the linkage arm appears to be stuck and doesn't move. The linkage to the carb moves just fine. It's just the part where the throttle cable attaches that is stuck. Where do I need to start to loosen this thing up?

Also..I REALLY need to get a set of manuals for this thing!

The lever just pivots on a pin protruding from the side of the governor housing. It's seized from rusting, you'll need to spray it with a good penetrant, several times and carefully work it to free it up. Once free'd up, it should be removed, cleaned up and greased on re-assembly. It's a very common problem.

Thanks Gary, that is exactly what I was looking for. I got it freed up today but it appears the I will have to remove the entire governor remove the arm and lube it up. Hopefully this rain will stop soon.....
