transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedHave a 154 that stopped functioning in reverse and 1st.....when I took the transmission cover off there were 2 teeth sheared off the wheel....is there any info other than the service manual with step by step directions to repairand replace this sproket...any input would help...thanks!
Re: transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedThey broke for a reason. Either the tractor was still moving during the shift or the clutch brake did not have the driveshaft stopped.
Identify the root cause before tearing into it. That way you can fix all of the issues at the same time. 184 w/ Creeper & 3-Point

Re: transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedafter looking over the forum I now believe that the fork on rt side (looking over the back seat) was loose, that is fractured off the rounded metal component it sits on(i believe they are one piece) and it jumped the teeth fracturing two...could this be a root cause...i can send you pics if you want to see....thanks from a newbie!
Re: transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedA picture might help. But if I followed your description, your explanation is certainly possible. A lot of Cub transmission problems start with a broken shifting fork.
Re: transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedIf the gear teeth are sheared it probably is a loose fork being allowed to jump out of gear. Or wear from not having the flywheel brake pucks not ajusted correctly so when you fully depress the clutch to release it the flywheel is suppose to stop.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
Re: transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedcant fiqure out how to post the pics...i have them with the fork and teeth missing.....

Try some of the "How To" links on this page. That may help you. If it is any consolation, it took me a looooong time to get to where I can post pics. Sometimes I still get frustrated. Re: transmission 1st/reverse gear sprokets shearedApparently you need permission to post pics or you have to link yo outside source....
