3pt not working
Hello all, I have just replaced my shift lever on a 154 and I filled up the trans with hy-trans fluid and now my 3pt hitch will not go up????... I just replaced the hy filter next to the seat thinking that might be the cause. Does anyone have any ideas and or have had this problem?

Air?
May just need to cycle the lever several times to get the fluid flowing.

Re: 3pt not working
Others may have some other advice but does the center lift work?
Any pump noise?
If the trans is filled to the correct level then I would push the center cylinder all the way in and then start the tractor, pull the 3 pt lift levers up and down to pull and push some fluid. There may just be a large air bubble that the pump is having trouble moving. If that fails you can remove the filter and pour some hy-tran down the center pipe, not the rim. Also check the filter gasket to be sure it is there and not folder resulting in an air leak.

Re: 3pt not working
Yea, you just have a lot of air in the system. Also, remember that your' 3-point lift and mower lift cylinder do not have down pressure, therefore you need to have weight on them in order for them to go down. Without this, you are not actually cycling the cylinders and the air is just sitting trapped. Also, since you replaced the filter you better double check your fluid level after running the system for a while, as it probably needs to be topped off. It will need to be topped off again after you have all of the cylinders working properly and have the air out of the system.
It's a pain in the butt, especially if you have removed the mower deck, because it's about the only thing that you can hang from the lower lift cylinder to get it to move down.
Good luck,
Bill

I punctured my filter and as was pointed out to me by some other members, it's a suction system so the slightest leak on the suction side will prevent it from working.
