3160/C-3/Woods 59"

I did a search and didn't find anything.

Did the above mentioned decks have shrouds/baffles underneath that helped direct the grass, or were they just bare underneath?

If not, has anyone fabricated one and if so did it improve the "flow"?

Phazer:

I have the parts breakdown for the IH 3160 Rotary Cutter on the server. That might help a bit. I was pretty sure that the 3160 is similar to the C3 just reversed. Might take some work for you to whip it around, but it may be doable. It looks tome that the gauge wheel brackets are bolted to the angle iron mounting brackets. You may be able to simply reverse the mounting brackets to orientate the deck correctly.

Pics of what you do would be a boon :D

I'm refering to the 3 1/2 circle pieces like a conventional residential mower deck has.

Kinda like callouts 8, 9, & 10 in the following link.

I just looked at my International 3160 Series A Rotary Mower Setting Up Instructions 1 096 149 R2 1-79 manual and there are no mulching/grass skirts for the 3160 at all.

I also checked Messicks and didn't find anything different from my parts manual either.

Only grass skirts I can see are items # 21 & 27

I also checked the Woods-59LB Rotary Mower manual on the server and it doesn't have those grass skirts either

I wonder if I fabricate some, it might discharge better. I know they would just end up rusting out, but I'm always up for a challenge.

THANKS ! ! ! !

Phazer,
The 3160 Deck went thru many changes/revisions. The 3160, then the 3160A (type 1), then finally the 3160A Type 2 (I guess supposedly the best ??).

Here are a picture of the 3160A Type 2 bottom of the deck with the baffles and a picture of the top of the deck.

Maybe the pictures will help you, NJDale

This will probably be next winters project. I've recently put new metal around the complete perimeter and just last weekend added the front and rear rock gaurds and closed off the left-hand side. I just recently have begun "test" mowing with this setup and getting it and the tractor dialed in. Funny part is, I've mowed all of my property that needs it and I have to drive it about 3 blocks to a neighbor that has a 5 acre field to test it. So far, they haven't told me not to mow it anymore . . .LOL

I also bought but haven't picked up yet, a 3260 but I don't know what brackets it does/doesn't have. It looks like it might be a better finnish mower but I'll have to say, the spindles on the 3160 are cheap to rebuild, and easy.

Anyone have any luck finding the baffles for a Woods 59 mower ? Mine are rusted out and was hoping someone had a line on some instead of me trying to make something up ?

I have a woods 59 and there is a manual for that mower on Rudi's website. It seems to indicate the baffles are part of an optional leaf mulching attachment/system? Mine had only a single partial baffle behind the center blade that was pretty well rusted. I have since removed it and it seemed to make no difference in mowing. The 3160 looks like a better/simpler mower than the woods.
