184 PTO setup on a 154

Postby mangus580 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 10:01 pm

I have a chance to buy a complete 184 PTO setup for a good price. How hard is it to change out the one on the 154 with it (ours is shot). Is it possible without changing the whole drive clutch assembly?

I'd say you'll have to change the whole shot. The 154 has the clutch in the rear with 2 main shafts, 184 up front with a one piece main shaft. There may even be more to it than that. You won't know till you get into it. Maybe Hamilton Bob could tell you more.

I agree Rick - I think you'd have to change from the flywheel on back.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
