I started a project that I cannot finish without a couple of measurements that hopefully someone can swizzle up. I have a 184 with turf tires and a 3160A mower deck. I need some measurements while the mower deck is mounted to the tractor.
1) Clearance between the mower deck and the front tires (Straight and turned front tires)
2) Distance the mower deck extends beyond the front tires (Straight and turned front tires)
Thanks,

Re: Measurements Needed
I am quite sure the measurements from a 185 or a 154 would be close enough if anyone might have these available.
An estimate rounded to the nearest 2" would be helpful.
Thanks,

Re: Measurements Needed
Here is a pic of mine.
185 lo-boy---3160 triple blade mower
Front wheels straight---front of deck to back of tire, (4:00 x 12 tire size) 10 inches
Front wheels, left turn----10 inches,----(1 inch to caster wheel)
Front wheels right turn 12 inches deck to tire
The whole deck sits behind the front wheels.---the caster wheels are about 9 inches in front of the deck, except when you back up then they swing around and catch in the steer tires and you cant steer and back at the same time! going forward they do not bother at all!
I need to weld my deck caster wheels in a solid line so they cant swivel and interfere with steering when backing.---some guys just take them off and that solves the steering problem!
if you need more info say so,--I do have the manuals for the 3160 mower and 185 tractor. I also scanned and sent them to Rudi.thanks; sonny

Re: Measurements Needed
Thanks for the measurements!
I am looking to add the caster wheels to my deck. I don't like the way the deck floats when mowing on hills. I would like to mount the wheels outboard of the front drive wheels as my 3160A is wider than the tractor wheelbase.
One thing I noticed on the caster set I purchased. There is a piece of metal that sticks down that keeps the tires from swiveling around while backing. Yours is either worn off or the vertical collar is worn to the point of allowing the wheels the ability to spin around.

Re: Measurements Needed
HEY!!--your right!---tabs ARE worn off!!!---I will just weld some new stuff on there to keep the wheels from hitting! ---I thought about moving them to the outer corners too to help take weight off the skid plates, but never got around to doing it!
I did re-build my front with heavy ,wide angle iron to get it back to original shape/size as it was roached out in front when I got it! ---PO used it for a bulldozer blade! thanks; sonny
