Wondering minds? ? ?
On the int154 and the int185 they give two different dimentions on the location of the fan hub on the shaft. This tells me that the two fan housings aren't just interchangable you need to use change the location of the hub if we use one for the other. After reading this in the manual its makes me wonder if there is a difference between the older fcubs to the newer fcubs that have the same horse power as the int185's do? The same hp upgrade. I'm not sure why there is a different location of the fan pulley anyway. I figured everything is the samey same since its still a C60.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

since the 154 used a starter / generator, and the 185 went back to a regular starter, i suspect thats where you'll find the difference.

I believe the 154 and the 185 are the same with the s/g's. While the 185 has the alternator/geared starter. Let say a C60 is a C60 no matter what the starter or charging system is. My point is why on the higher horse power c60's does the centerline of the pulley's move. And is it done on the higher horse power fcubs too. Is the govenor housing larger on the higher hp engines? I'm really not sure yet but there has to be a reason for the location change of the pulley's. If anyone is interested in an engine swap this could factor in as a problem with the higher hp engines.
It would also make sense to me if they did it on the 185's maybe they did it on the newer higher hp fcubs too.
I don't want this to go the way of a dead horse, its just an idea that something is a pontential problem that we can run into before we run into it.

If you will also notice that the crank pulley and the fan pulley are larger in diameter. Reason may be the starter/generator needs the larger pulleys to apply more torque to the engine. Could the pulleys be forward to allow the dry air cleaner to fit under the hood. I sure do not know just posing some thoughts.

F cubs had different pulleys related to the change from 6 volts to 12. There are 2 configurations of fan hubs. A sheet metal stamped pulley with oil bath hub and a cast pulley version with a replaceable bearing. Except for the pulley diameter all are interchangeable through the entire range of Cub production.

That change was in 1953 at serial 165153.

OK, thanks. I gleaned my bit of information on the pulleys from another post but did not do my own due diligence on when the change was made. This means the pulley size had nothing to do with the change from 6 to 12 volts which happened in 1964.
